Hopewell judge appoints new City Council member

HOPEWELL - Borough Council has a new member. Roosevelt Edwards Jr. will fill the Ward 2 seat vacated by the Rev. Curtis Harris, who resigned in February.

Bishopric Council last month could not agree on a candidate to fill the vacant seat. A four-square majority vote of 4 to 2 was needed to appoint one of the six candidates who submitted applications. The thing was transferred into the court system, according to the State Code of Virginia.

Sin Mayor Wayne Walton said that Circuit Court Referee W. Allan Sharrett announced his decision at 4 p.m. Monday.

"My conjecture is that Mr. Edwards will assume his council duties tomorrow," Walton said.

Edwards could not be reached for animadversion last night.

The judge's pick might come as a surprise. In the 2010 choosing, Edward came in third, with 55 votes after Harris (159 votes) and David Silvestro (56 votes). Applicant Yolanda Stokes received 48 votes. A political alien, Edwards came to Hopewell from North Carolina 12 years ago. In a 2010 vetting with The Progress-Index, he said he considers Hopewell "a goldmine" because of "the many opportunities we have here.

this kit is common of a offshore effect,reasonable supplies,very shoddy property,these kits are made to fit the little 20cu.ft.oxygen tank and the 10cu.ft.acetylene tank known people considerable as the MC genre tank yet the fittings on both regulators are made to fit the "A" tanks only,what secure is that,Toolprice ,where the kits are sold thru has sent me 3 regulators and fittings yet nobody at TOOLPRICE seems to conceive of what a MC tank is,I'm still waiting over a month...
