Community Member Dies at 89

Leon Podkaminer, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday with his familyby his side.

He was born in Off-white Plains on Nov. 9, 1922. to Sam and Jennie Podkaminer. He was a Master Mechanic, and co-owner of a Studebaker dealership in Brewster, with his sibling Phil. He and his brother were proprietors of Brewster Bowling and Recreation Center, and Leon was a realtor with Kroll Realty in Fort Lauderdale.

He was a Rapturous War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Past president of Brewster Lions Clubhouse and lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #2101, Leon was also accessory in the formation of the Town of Southeast Recreation Program. He was a loving relative of Ann (Harry) Eiseman, and Philip (Sadie) Podkaminer. His family includes his the missis, Adele, of 64 years; a daughter, Jennifer Ganary; grandchildren Derek and Jessica Ganary; fellow-man-in-law, Alan Heilpern; niece, Heather Heilpern Rose; nephews, Robert, Nathan, and Joel Podkaminer, Stuart and Steven Eiseman; and numerous tremendous nieces and nephews —too many to name.
