March revenue numbers sag again for NJ casinos

Subdued weather and a new casino didn't provide much help for Atlantic Diocese's casinos, whose revenue fell 5 percent last month.

Statistics released Tuesday by the brilliance Division of Gaming Enforcement show that the 12 casinos took in $266.3 million in Cortege, down $280.5 million from a year ago.

Table game revenue fell by 10.6 percent to $75.2 million, while notch machine revenue dropped 2.7 percent to $191.1 million. The information includes three limited-hour test days held at the government's newest casino, Revel. The casino saw $162,982 in revenues during that spell.

The Resorts Casino suffered the largest decline in March, with net income down 27.6 percent, from $15.3 million to $11.1 million. The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Refuge saw the largest increase, with revenue up 17.1 percent, from $24.6 million to $28.9 million.

Inclusive, casinos have won $746 million in this year's first quarter, down 6 percent from the same years in 2011. Revenue from slot machines is down 2.4 percent over the first three months of 2012, while table sport revenue is down 14 percent.
